I'm glad on the one hand that Bill has Jost to keep him from getting too far ahead of himself, but on the other hand Bill DOES have a legitimate concern for himself; he's right to think of the potential changes if he gets involved with someone with a child.
That doesn't stop me wanting to see Bill CALL Tom, of course. Argh, Bill! Now I'm left wondering if something happened to prevent Bill calling Tom.
