Eh, all kids are different. My kids wouldn't have asked at all. They know it's impolite and they would have poked at me until they could get me away and whisper the question in my ear.

I wasn't worried about my parents doing that, I guess. Then again, I came out to them during an argument in which my father was making fun of gay people, so I wasn't really thinking. ;)
