i've only started reading this story and i have to say that i'm kicking myself for not reading this sooner. what a wonderful story, full of imagery. i happen to know what it's like to raise a kid on their own. i was 20 years old when my sister had her son and left him with me. i was still in college, working and coming home to help my mom raise him until i graduated. after college, i worked 3 jobs to keep him fed and clothed. i put my love life on hold for him, and looking back on it, i wouldn't trade it for anything. he's 13 now, and just made the middle school football team. he's a straight A student and is a handsome gentleman. this story reminds me of all the struggles i went through back then, and reminds me that there is still hope for love....even if it's when i'm much older. thank you for this story.
