Summary: Gustav cuddles Bill to warm him when the heater goes out on the bus.

As soon as Gustav woke up, he knew something was wrong. It seem rather chilly on the bus, and when he pulled back the curtain to his bunk and could faintly see each breath puff out before him, he realized it was more than chilly. It was damned cold. Groaning, he slipped a pair of sweats over his boxers, threw on a tee shirt and went to fix the heater. Again.
It had been nice and all, him and Georg having their own bus. They loved the extra space, especially in the bathroom, where Bill’s makeup and hair products weren’t strewn everywhere. They loved not having to deal with the twins being…well, twins. Bill and Tom were like super-brothers; they seemed closer and loved harder than regular siblings, but that also meant that they fought harder than regular siblings. It could be exhausting, even to the spectators.
But even while Gustav and Georg were enjoying the perks of their own bus, they were frustrated because the heater kept going out. Traveling around Europe in the winter, they’d spent several nights shivering under piles of blankets until Gustav had sat down in front of the metal contraption and figured out how to fix it. That’s what he’d told Georg, anyway; the truth of the matter was that he’d kicked it and the heater had suddenly begun to blow warm air out of all the vents again.
Gustav made his way through the bus in the dark, dodging video game cases and controllers left out in the living area. The running lights along the top of the bus were pretty, but they didn’t give off enough light to see by, and Gustav didn’t see the guitar leaning against the entertainment console until he’d jammed his toe hard against it. He gasped and cursed loudly at Tom and Georg for not picking up their toys when they went out tonight.
Using the foot with the uninjured toe, Gustav gave a swift, well-aimed kick to the heater compartment. The metal clanged loudly and a ticking and chugging noise came from inside before it groaned and warm air began to wisp reluctantly from the nearest vent.
“Gustav?” A tiny voice came from behind him, and Gustav whipped around to find the source.
Bill was curled up on his couch, shivering violently under a thin blanket.
“Bill?” Gustav wiped at his eyes with the heels of his palms and tried to focus on the man on his couch. “What are you doing here?”
“Freezing, I think.” Bill’s teeth chattered loudly, and Gustav found himself grabbing his own thick, down comforter off his bunk and bringing it to Bill before he even had time to think about what he was doing. He threw it over the top of the tiny one that Bill was using.
“Sit up.” He waited for Bill to move, watching the man’s thin shoulders quake, and then slipped under the blanket with him. “Now c’mere.”
Gustav lay back and held his arms open, waiting for Bill to snuggle in with him. Bill didn’t hesitate for a second. He flung himself into Gustav’s arms, wrapping his own arms around Gustav’s waist and clinging there.
Gustav pulled the comforter tight around them, tucking the edge under Bill’s chin. “Now what are you really doing here? Why aren’t you on your own bus?”
Bill shuddered and gulped before working up to an answer. “Tom went out with Georg, so I went to bed. But, um…” Bill ducked his face into Gustav’s neck, his warm breath puffing against the chilly flesh there, “well, you know I have bad dreams sometimes.”
Gustav nodded. “And Tom wasn’t there.”
“Tom wasn’t there. And I didn’t want to be there by myself, so I came here.” Bill squeezed his arms tighter around Gustav. “I would normally cuddle with Tom in his bunk, but I thought you might think it was weird if I just climbed in your bunk. The couch was okay, but I couldn’t find any more blankets.”
“I’m sorry.” Gustav rubbed his hands up and down Bill’s arms under the comforter as Bill nodded against his shoulder and scooted a little closer. They lay there in silence as Bill’s shivering began to subside, neither of them feeling that words were necessary. They were warm against each other, comfortable and sleepy, and it wasn’t long before their eyelids began to droop.
Bill shifted and twined his legs around Gustav’s, pulling himself closer to the drummer until every inch of Bill was pressed against him. Even in his sleepy haze, Gustav’s belly swirled pleasantly.
Bill was beautiful, he smelled so very good, and he just felt right in Gustav’s arms. He felt a familiar ache in his chest, and he realized he shouldn't be thinking like that. He hadn’t allowed himself to think of Bill like that in a long time because it just seemed pointless; Bill could never fall for someone like Gustav.
Gustav was plain. He was ordinary and really, Gustav thought he was rather boring. Bill, on the other hand, was as glorious and as colorful as a wild peacock. He was anything but ordinary, and he certainly deserved someone more interesting than Gustav. So Gustav had decided long ago to make sure Bill never knew how he felt about him, and Bill would never have to deal with being uncomfortable around Gustav.
Gustav, however, felt quite uncomfortable around Bill, at least at the moment. Bill had stopped shivering and had melted into him, and just having the man in his arms, Gustav found his body responding in ways that would mortify him if he thought Bill was awake. He tried to breathe through his desire, willing his body to soften, willing himself to think of something besides the soft, beautiful man he held.
But breathing deeply seemed to make Bill stir. The younger man squirmed against him, bringing his leg up until it covered Gustav’s groin, and Gustav froze. He clenched his eyes closed and a chanting started in his head--don’t thrust, don’t thrust, don’t thrust.
But Bill’s leg moved across his groin and suddenly, Gustav had no choice. His breath stuttered out as he thrust carefully against Bill’s thigh.
The pressure against his cock had his blood rushing in his ears and he thought it wouldn't take too long to come this way, even through his sweatpants. Not with Bill. He carefully moved the arm that wasn’t around Bill’s shoulders and brought his hand to the sleeping man’s knee, holding it in place while he thrust up again, grinding his cock Bill’s leg.
He felt, rather than heard, Bill’s gasp, and the man next to him froze completely. Gustav grimaced and turned his head away, his hand flying off Bill’s knee and landing on his own belly with a slap. He was so caught, and he’d never be able to explain this away. His stomach roiled and he was sure things would never be the same between them again.
“Gustav?” Bill’s lips moved against his neck, his whisper uncertain and shaky and Gustav would have hugged him tighter if that wouldn’t have made things so much worse.
“Yeah.” Gustav’s rasped, and he felt like he might throw up.
“Gustav, did you just--?”
Pressing his fingers and thumb to his eyes, and it was everything Gustav could do to keep from groaning. He was terrified but he knew there was no way out of this, so he might as well be honest. “Yeah.”
Bill pressed his thigh into Gustav’s groin. “Is that…? Are you…hard?”
Gustav grabbed at Bill’s knee, holding it in place. He couldn’t take much more of this; his face was burning and he knew that Bill would never be able to look at him the same way again.
“Yeah. Look, I’m sorry.” Gustav’s breath was deserting him and he wanting nothing more than to be able to turn back time, take this all back. “I’m sorry.”
But Bill moved his head up and breathed a light sigh across Gustav’s ear. “Don’t be.”
Bill pressed his lips to Gustav’s cheek and then used two fingers bring Gustav‘s face toward him. He was afraid to open his eyes, but then Bill kissed him. He kissed Gustav’s lips sweetly, lips barely parted, and Gustav forgot how to breathe.
Gustav opened his eyes then, because he had to see this for himself. He had to know that it wasn’t some silly dream that he’d soon wake up from, hard but so sad that it made his chest hurt, missing a Bill that he’d never had. But this time, it was real; Bill was kissing him.
He cupped Bill’s cheek in his palm and pulled back, searching Bill’s eyes. “Really? Me?”
Bill smiled, his eyes shining, and kissed him tenderly before pulling back with a sigh. “Oh yes. Definitely you.”
Bill snuggled back into Gustav’s neck and Gustav held him tight.
And he was right; things would never be the same again.
